Evelyn C. Castillo

Evelyn C. Castillo joined the Pathfinder team in May 2014. Castillo gained valuable public affairs experience working as an Associate Principal in the Latinovations practice of the Dewey Square Group, a leading public affairs firm in Washington, D.C. At DSG, she focused on Hispanic outreach, media relations, building statewide coalitions and designing earned media campaigns and providing strategic counsel to DSG clients. She was also responsible for the daily management of the practice’s premier blog, La Plaza, which covers the latest Latino political news from the nation’s capital.

Prior to joining Pathfinder, Castillo worked as an editor for LATINO Magazine in Austin, Texas. She also served as the editor for the Latinometro, NO MAS HAMBRE and College for Latinos websites. During her time there, she published informative, in-depth articles about issues of interest to the Latino community.

Castillo has always been interested in politics from a very early age. She became knowledgeable on Texas politics and the inner workings of the Texas Capitol by working with two local state representatives from the Rio Grande Valley, Rep. Tara Rios and Rep. Armando “Mando” Martinez.

In her spare time she volunteers with youth programs and after-school programs focused on mentoring and educational enrichment.

She is a native of McAllen, Texas, and attended the University of Texas at Austin.
